A CIFAS marker can make it hard to open a bank account, take out a phone contract or get car finance, and most people only find out which providers will say yes by applying and being turned down. What's inside
Every provider in the directory sits in one of six categories:
- Current accounts: banks and e-money accounts for everyday banking
- Savings: credit unions, building societies and savings apps
- Phone contracts: networks and mobile providers
- Car finance: finance providers, brokers and car subscriptions
- Insurance: insurers and insurance brokers
- Money transfers: payment and transfer services
Each listing tells you what the provider offers and carries a CIFAS stance label, which shows how open the provider is to people with CIFAS markers. See The six categories for more on each one.
What you can do with it

How it stays current
Every Monday, each provider's website is checked to confirm the firm is still live and trading, and listings that keep failing are removed. New firms from the FCA registers are added as they appear. See Weekly checks and verified dates.
