Troubleshooting

Email Not Connecting

If you're having trouble connecting your email account, here's how to fix common issues with Gmail, Outlook, and IMAP providers.

Email integration is temporarily unavailable while we work on improvements. You can still generate letters and send them by copying from your dashboard. See Sending your letter for instructions.

Pop-up blocked

When you tap "Connect email", a new window opens for you to sign in with your email provider. If nothing happens:

  • Check for a pop-up blocker: your browser may have blocked the authentication window. Look for a pop-up icon in your address bar and allow it.
  • Try a different browser: some browsers are more aggressive about blocking pop-ups.
  • Disable browser extensions: privacy extensions can interfere with the OAuth flow.

Gmail or Outlook won't connect

  • Make sure you complete the sign-in: the authentication window requires you to sign in fully with your email provider. If you close it partway through, the connection won't complete.
  • Check your Google/Microsoft account security: some accounts have restrictions on third-party app access. Check your security settings and ensure third-party access is allowed.
  • Try signing out and back in: if you're signed in to multiple Google/Microsoft accounts, the wrong one may be selected. Sign out of all accounts in the pop-up and sign in with the one you want to connect.

IMAP provider issues

For email providers other than Gmail and Outlook (Yahoo, iCloud, custom domains, etc.):

  • iCloud requires an app-specific password: go to Apple ID → Security → App-Specific Passwords → Generate one for ADVICIFAS. Use this password, not your regular iCloud password.
  • Yahoo may require an app password: go to Yahoo Account Security → Generate app password.
  • Check your email provider supports IMAP: most do, but some corporate or custom email servers may have IMAP disabled. Check with your email administrator.
  • Credentials entered correctly: for IMAP connections, you enter your email and password into a secure hosted authentication page. Double-check both are correct.

Still not working?

Email connection is optional. If you can't get it to work, you can still use the system fully by copying letters and uploading responses manually. See Connecting your email for the full guide, or contact support.

Frequently Asked Questions

No. Email connection is optional. Everything works without it; you just copy letters and upload responses manually instead of the system handling it automatically.
For Gmail and Outlook, no password is involved; you sign in via OAuth. For IMAP providers, your password is entered into a secure hosted page and encrypted; ADVICIFAS never has access to it.
