A provider is removed from the directory when its website fails our weekly check three weeks in a row. That usually means one of these:
- the website no longer loads, or has been parked or taken down
- the firm has closed, or no longer offers its service in the UK
- the website no longer appears to belong to the firm on the register
Removing these keeps you from wasting time on providers you can't actually apply to. See Weekly checks and verified dates for how the check works.
What you'll see
A removed provider disappears from the Financial options page and your recommendations. If you or other members left feedback on it, it stays on the My feedback page marked Removed with the date, and the message "This provider has been removed from the directory."
You can't leave new feedback on a removed provider.
Can it come back?
Yes. If the provider passes our checks again when the directory is next rebuilt, it returns to the directory.
If you think a provider was removed by mistake, for example because its website has moved to a new address, tell us at [email protected] and we'll check it.
