Your recommendations are worked out fresh each time you open the For You tab, from your saved answers and the current directory. Every provider in the categories you chose is scored and then sorted.
1. The provider's CIFAS stance
Every provider starts with points for its stance. Providers labelled Generally accepts start highest, then Likely to accept, then Case by case. This is the biggest single factor in the score.
2. How its features fit your answers
Points are then added where the provider has something you asked for, and taken away where it clearly lacks something you need. For example:
- you need a free account and the provider charges a monthly fee
- you need branch access, or to pay in cash, and the provider does or doesn't offer it
- you asked for a phone deal with no credit check, or a transfer service where the recipient can collect cash
- you need FSCS protection for your savings and the provider offers e-money instead
- the provider covers the types of insurance you picked
Where we don't hold information about a feature for a provider, it neither gains nor loses points for it.
3. The match badge
The total decides the badge:
- Strong match: a high score, usually a provider labelled Generally accepts that fits several of your needs
- Good match: a solid score, with some of what you asked for
- Possible match: everything else in the category
Results are sorted by badge, then by score, and grouped under each category you chose.
A match badge describes how a product's features line up with what you asked for. It doesn't assess you, your finances or your eligibility, and it isn't advice to apply. Always check with the provider first.
