Defamatory Reviews
Facing defamation is part of challenging powerful institutions. Here’s why it happens and what we do about it.
What is Defamation?
Defamation is the act of making false statements — written (libel) or spoken (slander) — that harm a person or organisation’s reputation. In the UK, defamation is a civil offence governed by the Defamation Act 2013. To qualify as defamation, a statement must be:
- False;
- Harmful to reputation; and
- Published to a third party without lawful justification.
Why is ADVICIFAS targeted?
ADVICIFAS challenges powerful financial institutions on behalf of individuals wrongly flagged by CIFAS markers or otherwise mistreated. As a result, we often become the target of coordinated misinformation, false narratives, and smear attempts, particularly on platforms such as Trustpilot.
In many cases, the defamatory reviews are:
- Posted anonymously, with no evidence of client status;
- Misleading or fabricated, often reflecting frustration from individuals or institutions we’ve held accountable; and / or
- Designed to undermine trust in our services due to our success rate in overturning wrongful actions by major institutions.
Can these reviews by trusted?
Not all reviews are authentic or reliable. Platforms like Trustpilot do not always verify the identity of reviewers, meaning any individual or competitor can submit a review, regardless of whether they’ve used our services.
Unfortunately, Trustpilot recently changed their review flagging process, now relying on Artificial Intelligence (AI) to assess reviews rather than directly contacting the reviewer for evidence. This means we are no longer able to successfully challenge or remove false reviews through traditional methods, as AI now automates the process, making it harder to flag reviews that lack genuine client experience.
We advise visitors to:
- Look for verified clients and consistent or paraphrased patterns in negative reviews;
- Be cautious of vague, emotionally charged claims with no factual backing;
- Review and read our responses which will include key details about our findings from that review; and
- Reach out to us directly if in doubt — we’ll clarify any concerns transparently.
How we respond
We follow a zero-tolerance policy on defamation. Our responses include:
- Filing formal complaints to review platforms requesting removal of the content (though this is mostly met with template or AI-based responses);
- Pursuing legal action where necessary to protect our reputation and the integrity of our services; and
- Being fully transparent about the claims made and the outcomes achieved with real clients.
What should I believe?
Believe was is verifiable.
ADVICIFAS maintains the highest success rate in the industry (98%), and we’re proud to have helped hundreds regain financial freedom. We encourage you to:
- Review real case studies;
- Speak with our team; and
- Examine the facts, not just opinions or hearsay online.
